Empowering HIV-positive women through healthcare, financial assistance, livelihood support, rehabilitation, and education to build independent and dignified lives.
Prerana works to protect and empower women and children affected by trafficking, exploitation, and social exclusion. Through rehabilitation, healthcare, livelihood support, and education, the organization helps vulnerable individuals rebuild their lives with dignity, independence, and hope.
Impact and Progress of Our Work with Prerana in 2025:
Joy of Helping partnered with Prerana to launch the Rahat Programme, a three-year rehabilitation initiative supporting 37 HIV-positive women aged 40 and above living in Mumbai’s red-light areas of Kamathipura and Khetwadi.
- Through the programme, each beneficiary receives ₹3,000 in monthly financial assistance, along with access to HIV treatment, nutritional support, mental health counselling, and rehabilitation services. The initiative also provides vocational training to help women build sustainable livelihoods and achieve greater financial independence.
- Recognizing the importance of family support, Joy of Helping also enables educational assistance for the beneficiaries’ children, helping create opportunities for a brighter future while breaking the cycle of vulnerability.
- One such beneficiary, Parul, joined the Rahat Programme in January 2025. With support for her healthcare and rehabilitation, she successfully started a dosa stall in November 2025, creating a sustainable source of income and rebuilding her independence.
- Through its partnership with Prerana, Joy of Helping continues to empower HIV-positive women by strengthening access to healthcare, livelihoods, education, and rehabilitation, enabling them to live with dignity, confidence, and long-term social inclusion.
