The Covid-19 pandemic brought economic activities in India to a grinding halt, posing a significant challenge to the survival of underprivileged families, particularly those led by women. Recognizing the impossibility of conducting physical vocational training during the pandemic, we embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to provide virtual vocational training. This marked a historic moment in the realm of women’s empowerment, enabling us to continue livelihood training for underprivileged women. Subsequently, we conducted practical training sessions in small groups, ensuring strict adherence to social distancing protocols amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Through this effort, we successfully provided virtual training to over 1,000 women across various vocational trades and equipped them with the necessary tools to earn their livelihoods.
Under the banner of Project ‘Life,’ we reached out to these vulnerable families and women during their time of distress by involving them in the production of face masks. Remarkably, these women collectively crafted more than 100,000 masks, with 50,000 of them being distributed in the UK and the remainder in Gujarat, India. These efforts played a pivotal role in helping families severely impacted by the pandemic to weather the storm.
Given the persistent challenges posed by the COVID-19 lockdowns, we have taken the initiative to manage and provide work opportunities for producing masks, PPE kits, medical clothing, and more.
The sustainability of our women empowerment program relies on the collective efforts of charitable organizations and generous donors like yourself.
