Facilitating Through Creativity with Kalyanam Karoti in 2023

Kalyanam Karoti, a National Award-winning organization recognized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is dedicated to preventing and curing avoidable blindness and serving the disabled in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, India, since 1981. It offers free education, vocational training, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy to Children with Special Needs (CWSN). Through its various initiatives, Kalyanam Karoti aims to reduce the causes of blindness, provide social and psychological assistance to the needy, and empower marginalized communities. The organization operates a special school called SAMBAL for mentally challenged and hearing-impaired children, providing education, training, therapy, and regular health checkups to 153 special children. It also focuses on raising awareness among parents, assessing and evaluating children with disabilities, mainstreaming them into normal development, and providing vocational training to minimize dependency. Currently, vocational training includes activities such as candle making, Agarbatti/Dhoopbatti making, card making, sewing, toy making, and more, enabling these children to lead near-normal lives.
