Providing safe shelter, healthcare, nutrition, and early childhood education to children living in high-risk red-light communities.
Ikshana supports children of sex workers living in red-light areas through safe night care, healthcare, nutrition, and early childhood education. By creating a secure and nurturing environment, the organization helps vulnerable children learn, grow, and access opportunities for a brighter future.
Impact and Progress with Ikshana in 2025:
Joy of Helping supports Ikshana in strengthening child protection, healthcare, education, and family support for children living in high-risk communities.
- Through its Night Care Centres, 101 children aged 0–5 years received safe shelter, protection, and emotional support, while 51 new children were enrolled during 2025–26, ensuring continued access to quality care.
- To improve health and well-being, Joy of Helping supported three medical camps that reached 90 mothers and childrenwith healthcare services, nutrition awareness, regular health monitoring, and nutritious meals.
- The partnership also strengthened early childhood education by introducing a structured learning framework that enhanced children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development. As a result, six children successfully transitioned to Wheaton International School for continued education.
- To reinforce family support, Ikshana conducted 1,400 home visits and 100 community visits, providing counselling on childcare, nutrition, hygiene, and child development while strengthening parental engagement and community participation.
- Children living in red-light communities continue to face unsafe environments, social stigma, limited access to healthcare, and inadequate early learning opportunities. Many families also struggle to access childcare and developmental support, increasing children’s vulnerability to poverty, exploitation, and social exclusion.
- Looking ahead, Ikshana aims to expand its Night Care Centres, strengthen healthcare and nutrition initiatives, increase access to early childhood education, and deepen family counselling and community outreach programmes. By building stronger support systems for children and families, the organization continues to create safer childhoods and brighter futures for vulnerable communities.
