Safe Night with the NightCare Initiative

Providing safe shelter, nutrition, trauma-informed care, and early childhood education for vulnerable children across Cambodia, Bangladesh, and India.

The NightCare Initiative provides safe night shelter, nutrition, hygiene, trauma-informed care, and early childhood education for babies and young children living in high-risk communities. Implemented through trusted partner organizations across Cambodia, Bangladesh, and India, the initiative creates safe spaces where vulnerable children can learn, heal, and build brighter futures.

Impact and Progress of Our Work with the NightCare Initiative in 2025:

Joy of Helping supports the NightCare Initiative in protecting vulnerable children by expanding access to safe care, nutrition, education, and long-term rehabilitation across multiple countries.

  • In Cambodia, through Saving Moses Cambodia (SMC) in Phnom Penh, 191 children received safe shelter, nutritious meals, hygiene support, trauma-informed care, and early learning across four NightCare Centres. The programme also works with government agencies and partner organizations to help children transition into formal and residential education after the age of five.
  • In Bangladesh, Joy of Helping partnered with MMS in Rajbari and SATU in Tangail to support 81 children through NightCare Centres that provide shelter, nutrition, caregiving, hygiene, and play-based healing. Older children are also supported through safe homes and free education, creating pathways to long-term learning and stability.
  • In India, NightCare Centres operated by Ikshana in Sonagachi and Sheoraphuli, Kolkata, provided safe shelter, care, and early learning opportunities for 64 children. The initiative also strengthened educational access by supporting four children to enrol in an international school while preparing five more for admission in the coming year.
  • Across vulnerable communities, children continue to face unsafe environments, social exclusion, limited access to education, and a lack of protective care during their early years. Without timely intervention, many remain at risk of exploitation, interrupted education, and long-term vulnerability.

Looking ahead, the NightCare Initiative aims to expand safe night care services, strengthen early childhood education, improve access to nutrition and healthcare, and create more pathways to formal education. By working closely with local partners, governments, and communities, the initiative continues to protect vulnerable children and create safer childhoods with opportunities for lifelong growth and independence.
