Our Goal is To restore sight, primarily in adults afflicted by cataracts, and to ensure children regain their vision; through surgical procedures and comprehensive eye examinations.
Until all Children with Cataracts regain their vision
According to World Health Organization
“There is no better way to thank God for your sight than by giving a helping hand to someone in the dark.”
Helen Keller
In East Africa, the prevalence of blindness is a concerning issue, with nearly a quarter of a million East Africans, affected, and a significant 43% of these cases attributed to cataracts. This condition is both avoidable and often treatable, as the World Health Organization emphasized.
The number of individuals grappling with blindness in East Africa has been on the rise, with an estimated 224,000 people currently affected and an additional 750,000 facing visual impairment. It’s important to note that four out of five individuals suffering from blindness in Kenya can potentially regain their sight, as their condition falls under the category of avoidable blindness—blindness that is either treatable or preventable.
Cataract surgeries have been organized and coordinated across three eye hospitals to address this issue.
