About
Mr. Murali Krishnamurthy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and communications Engineering from NIT Trichy and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. He worked as a Senior Software Engineer in the IT industry until 2008, after which he assumed the role of Executive Chairman of the Sankara Eye Foundation in 2009.
Established in 1998, SEF, USA has witnessed remarkable growth, expanding from a single Sankara Eye Hospital performing 8,000 free eye surgeries annually to a network of ten hospitals conducting over 150,000 free eye surgeries each year. SEF, USA also provides support to nine other partner hospitals and collectively delivered 200,000 free eye surgeries in 2019. To date, SEF, USA has successfully completed a cumulative total of 2.2 million free eye surgeries.
Mr. Murali was honored with the prestigious “Distinguished Alumnus” award from NIT Trichy in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the Sankara Eye Foundation. This distinguished award was presented to him by India’s former president, Dr. Abdul Kalam, on February 26, 2014, at NIT Trichy in Tamil Nadu, India.
He is passionately committed to the noble mission of eradicating curable blindness in India, and he actively collaborates with SEF volunteers and generous donors to achieve this goal.
Beyond his philanthropic pursuits, Mr. Murali Krishnamurthy has a deep passion for music and is an integral part of the Bay Area Light Music group Pallavi.
