Mr. Murali Krishnamurthy
Co-Founder, Executive Chairman of Sankara Eye Foundation, USA (SEF, USA)
Murali has a Bachelors’s Degree in Electronics & Communications engineering from NIT Trichy and a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. Murali worked as a Senior Software Engineer in the IT Industry until 2008 and became a full-time Executive Chairman of the Sankara Eye Foundation in the year 2009.
Founded in 1998, SEF, USA has grown from one Sankara Eye Hospital and 8,000 free eye surgeries per year to ten hospitals and over 150,000 free eye surgeries every year. SEF, USA also supports nine other partner hospitals and performed an overall 200,000 free eye surgeries in 2019. SEF, USA has performed a cumulative 2.2 million free eye surgeries so far.
Murali received the “Distinguished Alumnus” award from NIT Trichy for his work at Sankara Eye Foundation and the award was given by India’s ex-president Dr. Abdul Kalam on February 26, 2014, at NIT Trichy, Tamil Nadu, India.
Murali wants to eradicate curable blindness in India, with the SEF volunteers and donors.
